Mythbuster : Mentos and Aerated Soft Drinks Reaction

June 16th, 2009 Prashanth Pai 1 comment

Don’t tell me that you haven’t seen the videos of the Mentos and Diet Coke which are all over YouTube since ages. If you haven’t, you surely have heard about it from your friend or read it somewhere. This reaction between Mentos and several aerated soft drinks like Coke or Pepsi which results in a spectacular eruption is popularly known as Mentos eruption or a coke geyser. Now, why is it so popular ? It is because of the nature of this physio-chemical reaction and the easy availability of the ingredients – just bump into your local shop and get them. One more reason is that this activity is very safe. The experiment was first aired on television back in 2002 and then in 2005. Since then, it’s all over the Internet. Read more…

Bollywood Films And Plagiarism

We all love watching Bollywood movies. Don’t we ? We all love the Trio Khans, Akki, and of course every one’s talking about Katrina – recently she was voted by an international magazine as India’s Sexiest Woman – something which I strongly disagree. Theses include chronic or short term problems like dry eye, eyestrain, neck or backache, light sensitivity etc. These are mainly caused by factors like improper environment, lighting conditions, working habits etc. Many of these symptoms are temporary and will improve after ceasing computer work. However, some individuals may continue to experience visual problems, such as such as blurred distance vision, even after computer work has stopped. If the causes of the problem are not addressed, the symptoms will recur, and perhaps worsen, with future computer use. Viewing a computer screen is different than reading a printed page. The monitor screen ‘cheats’ our eye by continuously refreshing the page. Read more…

I think that it’s cool and ‘geeky’ to be able to launch your favorite and frequently used application just the way you launch regedit, cmd or services.msc from the Run dialog box or even from the Command Prompt. In this post, I am going to tell you 3 methods to do this. The first two methods can be used only to launch executable files where as third method can be used to launch any file or directory.

1. Using Add2Run utility
Let’s start with the most simple way to launch applications from Run. Add2Run developed by Jitendra Bangani is a tiny standalone portable utility designed just to do this. Read more…
