We all love watching Bollywood movies. Don’t we ? We all love the Trio Khans, Akki, and of course every one’s talking about Katrina – recently she was voted by an international magazine as India’s Sexiest Woman – something which I strongly disagree. And not to talk about Miss World/Miss Universe beauty pageants or the wax statues of Bollywood actors and actresses at Madame Tussauds museum – everyone (in India) is thinking that the whole world is embracing of what we are, not realizing that there is a serious lack of creativity in Bollywood.
Another thing, I still don’t get it – how the Academy Jury gave the Oscar to Slumdog Millionare ? I mean, The Dark Knight and Curious Case of Benjamin Button were too superior than Slumdog (even Kung Fu Panda was better than Slumdog). And the aftermath, the consequences in India – all the drama about giveaways to the actors from the slum – the TV channels yell “From Rags To Riches” and politicizing Jai Ho – which after all is an extremely ordinary song. Those of us who spend a lot of time in front of the monitor could suffer from a series of disorders collectively known as Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS). Theses include chronic or short term problems like dry eye, eyestrain, neck or backache, light sensitivity etc. These are mainly caused by factors like improper environment, lighting conditions, working habits etc. Many of these symptoms are temporary and will improve after ceasing computer work. However, some individuals may continue to experience visual problems, such as such as blurred distance vision, even after computer work has stopped. If the causes of the problem are not addressed, the symptoms will recur, and perhaps worsen, with future computer use. Viewing a computer screen is different than reading a printed page. The monitor screen ‘cheats’ our eye by continuously refreshing the page. Read more…
I think that it’s cool and ‘geeky’ to be able to launch your favorite and frequently used application just the way you launch regedit, cmd or services.msc from the Run dialog box or even from the Command Prompt. Almost everybody in India owns a mobile whether it is PDA, Smart Phone, Nokia 1100 class phones or whatever. People seem to be obsessed and too addicted to their mobile phones. The gadget itself has become a part and parcel of our social lives. The Indian government has recently approved implementation of 11 digit mobile numbers due to increased mobile users in the country. Besides, MNP ( Mobile Number Portability ) will be implemented in trial phase in four major metropolitian cities by the end of September.
There’s a lot of buzz going on prices of new handsets. Whenever someone meets his friend who has a new mobile phone, the usual conversation obviously includes the question – “How much did you pay for the handset ?”. Read more…
Students after getting CET results are not sure that in which college they may get a seat and in which branch. So I have put up the cutoff ranks of various top engineering colleges in Karnataka. The data is taken from 2007 CET counseling and there might be very slight difference in cutoff this year. However, the trend will remain the same.
I don’t have reservation under any category and hence cannot get Computer Science branch in any top engineering college. May be I should take Mechanics. Or if luck is on my side, nobody should take Computer as the IT industry has collapsed and there are thousands of job cuts. Hope it works that way
The following cutoff ranks are with respect to General Merit (GM) seats only. Read more…
